Calculus&Mathematica
is an exciting new way to learn calculus, differential equations, and matrix
theory. Students are no longer bound to the traditional classroom setting,
nor do they even need to be on a college campus. Students gain valuable
hands-on experience in practical calculus problems with the help of Mathematica.
Instead of using note memorization, students in Calculus&Mathematica
use experimentation and real-time visualization to learn fundamental calculus
concepts and ideas.

Interactive
Linear Algebra Interactive Linear Algebra is a new type of text - an
interactive one. The interaction occurs by using the numerical, graphical,
symbolic and textual capabilities of Mathcad. The entire text is presented
on the computer in Mathcad. The course is taught in a laboratory setting,
with or without additional lectures. Through this technology centered approach,
mathematics becomes an experimental science. Students become active participants
in the learning process, which leads to a deeper understanding of the concepts.
At the same time, this approach develops confidence in the student's ability
to read, use, and write about linear algebra. The electronic text guides
the students through linear algebra and its applications with a carefully
planned series of computer-based discussions, examples, questions, and
projects. With its graphics, symbolics, numerics, and editing capabilities,
Mathcad provides the tools needed for developing, visualizing, connecting,
and applying the concepts of linear algebra.

TAME
Software & Support TAME - The software in this library is intended
to help schools to access low-cost tools and materials for use in the mathematics
classroom. This forum is also interesting in developing an email based
support network for the various mathematical software packages (commercial
and shareware) commonly used in schools. A list of people who have already
volunteered their support is to be found here.
- UCALC - Whether you need to compute compound interest, convert from miles to kilometers,
solve a quadratic equation, plot a 3D surface, or simply add up bills, you will find
a tool in UCALC 4.0 which performs the task. http://www.ucalc.com

The
Function Visualizer (Mac version) /
The Function Visualizer (DOS version) is software which display function
diagrams (lines joining x with f(x)) and animates the association of a
point with its function image. Versions for the Mac and for DOS machines
are available. The Visualizer is public domain, partially supported by
NSF, and is the work of Mark Bridger and Hubert Hohn. It also contains
a documentation file (
FunctionVisualizer.abstract ) and a TeX file discussing some of the
mathematical/pedagogical issues. The TeX file, unfortunately, does not
contain the diagrams which accompany the paper itself. If you have any
problems with either the software or obtaining it, or any comments or suggestions,
write to: bridger@neu.edu

FracPPC - a fractal generation
program for the Power Macintosh. It will only run on Macs equipped
with the PowerPC processor.
FracPPC v1.1b1 can generate zooms of the Mandelbrot Set and the associated
Julia sets. It allows export of the images as PICT files and editing of
the color map.
FracPPC v1.1b1 adds the following features that were not in the previous
version (v1.0b2):
- Images can be saved to PICT files
- Areas of image can be selected for zooming
- Can edit color maps
- Can apply color maps separately to different regions of fractal
- User interface has been improved
The latest distribution can be obtained by downloading http://www.fractaldomains.com/html/download.html
Some large JPEG files generated with FracPPC can also be found at http://www.fractaldomains.com/html/gallery.html
