Several other books by Lacaille, Lalande, Poisson, Lam´e, etc, were the textbooks of several disciplines during the 19th century.
Slowly, Portuguese originals emerged. Of the numerous books and booklets edited during the 19th century, we can point out the following ones:
• R. Sousa Pinto, Calculation of astronomical events, 1849
• R. Sousa Pinto, Elements of Astronomy, 1858 and 1873.
• L. Costa e Almeida, Theory of contact of surfaces and curves in space and
main applications, 1869 and 1885.
• L. Costa e Almeida, Brief explanation of the fundamental principles of the
calculus of variations, 1870.
• J. Bruno de Cabedo, Theory of limit numbers, 1883.
• L. Costa e Almeida, Notes about the transformation and integration of the
differential equations of dynamics, 1890.
Shortly after it was edited, the textbook “Course on Infinitesimal Analysis” by F. Gomes Teixeira became the official textbook of the 2nd year discipline. This
