Mathematics and the Environment, the topic of
the 2004 CIM Thematic Term could hardly be more timely. The knowledge
of the dynamics of our planet's ecosystems and of the impact
of human activities on them is nowadays more vital than ever.
This Thematic Term intends to promote the interdisciplinary
aspects of Environmental Sciences, emphasizing the role of modern
applied mathematics in the modeling and the analysis of complex
natural phenomena.
