The Portuguese funding agency FCT holds annual competitions for doctoral fellowships which cover tuition fees and living expenses. Applications are open to Portuguese citizens and all the holders of residence permit in Portugal. The call for applications in 2007 announces two evaluation phases. For the first one, only applications which are submitted (locked) by June 20 will be considered. The selected candidates may be awarded their fellowships starting October 1, 2007. For the second phase, the respective dates are September 17 and January 1, 2008. The bilingual application form is available online.
