Acoustic shocks in the quiet chromosphere

We'll present high resolution CaII 854.2 nm data, obtained on June 2, 2004 in a very quiet region at the center of the Sun. We'll display evidence of acoustic shocks occurring in the internetwork chromosphere, and discuss their spatial distribution and relation with photospheric magnetic structures. The CaII data has been acquired with the Interferometric BIdimensional Spectrometer (IBIS) installed at the DST/NSO, that provides high cadence spectral information on a two-dimensional field of view, 80" in diameter, and complemented with magnetic maps from MDI.
